Electric Vehicle Charging Station Map for Nevada

Solar panels provide shaded parking and EV charging at the Clark County Government Center.

Electric vehicles are hitting the road in ever-increasing numbers. Most are conveniently charged at home but when you’re on the road and need a little juice, it’s nice to know there is a growing network of public charging stations available around the valley.

Here at GreenDream, we’ve been tooling around town on sunshine for over a year with a 100% electric Nissan Leaf that is charged with the solar energy we harvest on the roof. The combination of efficient homes, electric vehicles and clean, renewable energy can’t be beat and it’s here now!

Our friends at the Nevada Electric Vehicle Accelerator program have created a great electric vehicle charging station map for Nevada (be sure to visit them to check out the good work they are doing).  While viewing the map, you can zoom out to see stations in Northern Nevada too.

Many folks are surprised at the number of electric vehicle charging stations that are already operating around Las Vegas. They are even more surprised when they learn that, for now anyway, most of these facilities provide free charging. Call it a marketing gimmick, an incentive or just a novelty that will soon wear out its welcome, I am grateful for anything that moves us away from fossil fuels. Some, like the one pictured below at the Clark County Government Center, are powered with solar energy!

Shade is an important benefit of the PV array. Notice the two non-electric vehicles parked in the charging slots. This is not appreciated by EV owners who may be prevented from charging their vehicle.
